Aim and Scope
The 7th IEEE International Conference on Network Softwarization (NetSoft 2021) will be held on June 28 – July 2, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. IEEE NetSoft is a flagship conference aiming at addressing the “Softwarization” of networks and systemic trends related to the convergence of Cloud Computing, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). The IEEE NetSoft 2021 conference seeks tutorial proposals, which should provide clear and focused teaching materials covering hot and emerging topics that are within the scope of the conference, which include:
- Programmable SDN and NFV: languages and architectures
- Softwarized cloud, fog and edge infrastructures
- Cognitive and autonomic networking
- AI/ML techniques to support network automation
- Big data analytics for managing softwarized networks
- Network slicing and slice management
- Mobility management in software networks
- Policy-based and intent-based Networking
- Centralized vs distributed control, management & orchestration
- Context-awareness orchestration
- Hardware-acceleration in orchestration
- Abstractions and virtualization of resources, services and functions
- Service Function Chaining
- Container/microservice-based network functions
- Cloud-native architectures for 5G softwarized networks
- Efficient network/service monitoring in SDN/NFV
- QoS and QoE in softwarized infrastructures
- Resilience, reliability, and robustness of softwarized networks
- Network softwarization for 5G
- Network management at the edge for low-latency services
- Cooperative multi-domain, multi-tenant SDN/NFV environments
- Security, Safety, Trust and Privacy in virtualized environments
- SDN switch/router architecture and design
- Dynamic resource discovery and negotiation schemes
- Lifecycle management of network software
- DevOps methodologies for network softwarization
- Debugging and introspection of software-defined systems
- Softwarized platforms for Internet of Things (IoT)
- Energy efficient and green software-defined infrastructures (SDI)
- Transition strategies from existing networks to SDN/NFV
- New value chains and service models enabled by softwarization
- Socio-economic impact and regulations for softwarization
- Experience reports from experimental testbeds and deployments
Submission Guidelines
A NetSoft 2021 tutorial proposal should be submitted in a single PDF file (4 pages max.), and must include the following:
- Tutorial title
- Tutorial duration: either 1.5 hours or 3.5 hours (with a break)
- Abstract briefly describing the concept and content of the tutorial (no more than 300 words)
- Names, affiliations and short biographies of the speakers highlighting their experience on the proposed topic (no more than 300 words per speaker).
- Intended audience and a brief description of the background required by the tutorial attendees.
- Tutorial content: a detailed description of the tutorial content. It should highlight the relevance and timeliness of the addressed topic, the goal of the tutorial and an outline of its content.
- Hand-out material: a description of the non-interactive material that will be provided to the tutorial’s attendees (e.g., slides, code snippets, tools, virtual machines).
- Hands-on material: a description of the interactions that will be asked attendees to perform, as well as readme file with all necessary steps required by attendees to follow along.
